Established over 40 years ago, Tug Malta Limited provides towage services within the harbours and territorial waters of the Maltese islands.

With a fleet of 9 tugs, the Company is also engaged in offshore towage, salvage and wreck removal operations.

Tug Malta is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Crew to join its seafaring team.  For this purpose the Company invites applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

Tug Malta Ltd is seeking to recruit an IT Administrator who shall be responsible to oversee and maintain all aspects of the organisation’s IT/IS infrastructure. The role entails maintaining networks, servers and security programs and systems, manage the upgrade and installation of new hardware and software, perform trouble shooting amongst other tasks. To fulfil the duties associated with the position, the IT Administrator will be expected to liaise with the Company’s IT consultants and with the Group’s IT Superintendent.

Potential candidates must possess strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills whilst being able to work independently as needed.

It is essential for the candidate to have at least two years’ experience in a similar role covering familiarity with computer security programs, understanding of network technology and knowledge of project management aspects.

The ideal candidate is expected to have:

  • Office 365 knowledge (Teams, Sharepoint, One Drive etc.)
  • SQL Server or any other relational DB skills
  • Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 Knowledge (Active Directory, DC, DNS, DHCP etc.)

A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related areas will be considered an asset.

The trainee engineers shall initially be responsible for the administrative work of the Technical Department which consists of the administration of the Company’s planned maintenance system, documentation of maintenance interventions and co-ordination of testing of safety equipment used within the technical department.

The Company shall provide training to the individuals concerned to obtain the necessary qualifications required to fill the post of a tug engineer when a vacancy arises.  The training spans over a period of 2-3 years.  The Company shall also provide the selected candidates the opportunity to garner workshop experience and also opportunities to familiarize themselves with the tug technical systems.

The ideal Candidate is expected:

  • to have an aptitude to develop his knowledge and skills in marine and electrical systems and eventually to embark onboard our fleet of tugs to discharge the duties of a tug engineer;
  • Ideally the selected candidate should also have an aptitude to work on Information Technology and Information Systems.

The selected candidate will be working within the Technical Department, and will  be responsible to carry out maintenance related to electrical equipment on the company’s tug fleet and on its premises. The selected candidate will be expected to rectify electrical faults and carry out electrical modifications on the tug’s electrical equipment.

The ideal Candidate is expected:

  • to have a Higher Technician Diploma or Higher National Diploma, related to this field
  • to hold Licence A and Licence B
  • to be interested and willing to work on mechanical systems, such as but not limited to, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and air conditioning systems
  • to have previous working experience in a maintenance orgainsation
  • to be well-versed with the types of electrical equipment found on tug boats
  • to be able to work in a team
  • to be self-motivated and have a sense of commitment
  • to be computer literate and ideally familiar with ACAD
  • to have a valid driving licence

Must be in possession of a Master (Unlimited) STCW 95 Certificate of Competency as specified in section A-II/2 of the STCW Code. The ideal candidate should also have served on board tugs or offshore support vessels for at least twenty-four (24) months preferably at command level.

Both engineers must be in possession of STCW 95 Certificate of Competency as specified in Section A-III/2 of the STCW Code.  The ideal candidates should have preferably served on board tugs or offshore support vessels.

In the case of the Chief Engineer the certificate must be unlimited and must have served as Chief Engineer for at least twelve (12) months.

To serve on board the Company’s tugs during offshore towing activities and harbour towing operations.   Candidates must be in possession of STCW 95 Regulation II/5 Efficient Deck Hand certificate, STCW 95 Regulation II/4 Deck Watch Rating Certificate, GMDSS Radio Operator Certificate and ideally also in possession of STCW 95 Regulation III/4 Engine room Watch Rating Certificate.  The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience serving as deck watch rating on board offshore towing tugs or AHTS.
