Established over 40 years ago, Tug Malta Ltd is an organisation that provides towage, salvage and anti-pollution services both within the local harbours and offshore.

Tug Malta Limited is a local company fully owned by the MSC Group of Switzerland.

The candidate will be working within the Technical Department. The role of this position shall be to follow up as closely as possible the assigned tugs, together with their respective crews, keeping a highly active presence onboard the tugboats. The selected candidate shall be responsible for both the deck and engine room maintenance.

The role shall require a practical, hands-on technically knowledgeable, competent, and experienced person who is assertive, can work in a team and who can motivate and lead the crew members.

Qualifications required

  • BSc / MSc degree in Maritime Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a marine maintenance organisation shall be considered an asset.

The Technical Co-Ordinator (TCO) shall work within the Technical Department of the company whose mission is to manage the maintenance, repair and modifications of all tugs, and their respective equipment efficiently and sustainably.

The TCO is a shore-based position whose focus is the technical documentation and maintenance records of the company’s tug fleet. The day-to-day work consists of updating planned maintenance schedules, maintaining effective records of maintenance carried out both by the crew and the technical department’s shore-based maintenance personnel. The position also includes other responsibilities related to the tug technical upkeep like job card preparation, sending, receiving, and documenting lubricating oil sample analysis, overviewing the bunkering process and other works and projects assigned by the Technical Manager from time to time.

The role shall require a meticulous, practical, and technically knowledgeable person who can work well in a team.

Qualifications required

  • Ideally BSc degree in Marine engineering or equivalent.
