Tug Malta Ltd is looking for skilled Marine Fitters to join our dynamic team. If you have hands-on experience with diesel engine overhauls and marine equipment maintenance, we want to hear from you! 

As a Marine Fitter, you will be part of the Technical Department, whose mission is to efficiently and sustainably manage the maintenance, repair, and modifications of all tugs within our fleet and their respective equipment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Overhaul and maintain diesel engines and other marine systems. 
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on marine vessel equipment. 
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures. 

Requirements: 

  • A solid technical background, ideally with both qualifications and practical experience. 
  • Proven experience in diesel engine overhauls, preferably in a marine environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of marine vessel maintenance processes. 
  • Experience with Caterpillar engines will be considered a valuable asset. 
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting electrical systems is highly desirable. 
  • Technicians with a wide variety of skills related to marine maintenance will also be considered an asset.

The selected candidate will be working within the Technical Department, and will  be responsible to carry out maintenance related to electrical equipment on the company’s tug fleet and on its premises. The selected candidate will be expected to rectify electrical faults and carry out electrical modifications on the tug’s electrical equipment.

The ideal Candidate is expected:

  • to have a Higher Technician Diploma or Higher National Diploma, related to this field
  • to hold Licence A and Licence B
  • to be interested and willing to work on mechanical systems, such as but not limited to, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and air conditioning systems
  • to have previous working experience in a maintenance organization
  • preferably to have experience in the marine industry
  • to be able to work in a team
  • to be self-motivated and have a sense of commitment
  • to be computer literate and ideally familiar with ACAD
  • to have a valid driving licence
