On the 22nd of July 2013 Tug Malta was entrusted by Mainticare Limited to take part in an operation associated with the safe escorting of the deep-water semi-submersible rig Noble Paul Romano. The rig was escorted by Tug Malta’s four tugs: ST ELMO, LIENI, SEA SALVOR and WENZINA from the Grand Harbour to the coast of Marsascala and it was moved on the heavy lift vessel Dockwise Vanguard. This operation formed part of the rig’s routine maintenance.

On the following day the vessel re-entered the Grand Harbour and berthed at Palumbo Shipyard escorted by Tug Malta’s tug WENZINA and SEA SALVOR, where the Noble Paul Romano will be continuing its maintenance.

In September, after completion of works the rig is expected to move to another
location- Hagar Qim 1 where it will start drilling in water depths of about 450 meters and will be targeting reservoirs at a depth of approximately 2,500 meters.
